Dry cleaning the “Statement of Intent”

Anders and Mads had a meeting with JPD in Århus, so I decided to dedicate my time to working on the Statement of Intent / Letter of Intent for the Glasgow School of Art (GSA). I’m also applying for Elisava in Barcelona, but GSA is first priority. It would be SO cool to go to Scotland for a term.

I’ve been writing all day, and now I’ve managed to boil all my thoughts down to approximately 250 words. It was difficult to write, and I still think it needs some final tweaking before it’s just right. Well, I’ll have Anders take a look at it again, and then IMS.

As for my portfolio – I’ve given it a lot of thought, and I think I’ll do a “temporary” layout. I just need to upload something soon. Something really clear and simple. The link to my portfolio will be a subdomain to my main site. Speaking of which – I badly need a logo for my site! Yesterday I was sketching on it, but I can’t seem to settle on an idea. The problem: I’ve got TOO many ideas going at the same time! I really think it’s a good idea to keep it as simple as possible.

Dry cleaners – I went there today with my blazer and my coat. I stepped into a fairly small room filled with coats and dresses hanging from metal bars. Everytime I see a dry cleaners, I can’t help but to think about the owner having a secret room in the back of the store, where he would print money, sell hardcore drugs or some other mob-related activity… This dry cleaner was no exception! Actually, the fact that he had this grumpy expression on his face, kind of supported my idea of his store being a cover-up for a larger “enterprize”. No joke!

What’s the deal with dry cleaning anyway?! I don’t get it! I honestly don’t know what will happen to the clothes I handed over to the guy. I mean, how the hell can you clean something without water? Does he have some sort of special cleaning powder? A super advanced lazer beam to blast away the filth? Does he spray the garnments with scorching hot fire? Or maybe he’s got a sweat shop in the back of the store, full of people who would pick off the dirt only equipped with a pair of tweezers?!

Anyway, I’ll have my clothes back on Friday. I think I’ll ask him then – of course leaving out the part with the mafia and sweat shop!!
