Rubrika: Dinosauři

The term „Dinosauři“ is Czech for „dinosaurs,“ which refers to a diverse group of reptiles that first appeared during the Mesozoic Era, approximately 230 million years ago. Dinosaurs are characterized by their unique hip structures and were the dominant terrestrial vertebrates for about 160 million years. They are divided into two main groups: Saurischia, which includes theropods (like Tyrannosaurus rex and birds) and sauropodomorphs (like Brachiosaurus); and Ornithischia, which encompasses various herbivorous dinosaurs (like Stegosaurus and Triceratops).

Dinosaurs exhibited a wide range of sizes and adaptations, occupying various ecological niches. They went extinct around 66 million years ago in a mass extinction event, but their lineage continues through birds, which are considered modern avian dinosaurs. The study of dinosaurs is significant in paleontology, providing insights into evolution, extinction, and the history of life on Earth.
