Štítek: Meteorický déšť

„Meteorický déšť“ (or „meteor shower“ in English) refers to a celestial event during which numerous meteors are observed to radiate from a specific point in the night sky. This phenomenon occurs when Earth passes through the debris left by a comet or asteroid, causing particles to enter the Earth’s atmosphere and burn up due to friction. These particles, often called meteoroids, can vary in size and speed, and as they travel through the atmosphere, they create bright streaks of light commonly known as „shooting stars.“ Meteor showers are categorized based on their parent body and often have predictable peak times, with major annual meteor showers such as the Perseids and Geminids being widely observed and celebrated. Meteor showers can provide valuable information about the composition of celestial objects and contribute to our understanding of the solar system.
