Tag: International Space Station

The International Space Station (ISS) is a large, habitable spacecraft that orbits Earth. It serves as a microgravity and space environment research laboratory where scientific research is conducted in astrobiology, astronomy, meteorology, physics, and other fields. The ISS is a joint project involving space agencies from multiple countries, primarily NASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), ESA (European Space Agency), JAXA (Japan), and CSA (Canada). Launched in 1998, the ISS has been continuously inhabited since November 2000, making it a symbol of international cooperation in space exploration. Its modular design allows for the addition of new components and modules, providing versatility in its operations. The station orbits Earth at an altitude of approximately 400 kilometers (about 250 miles), completing an orbit around the planet roughly every 90 minutes.
