The Perseverance Rover is a car-sized robotic vehicle designed and operated by NASA, part of the Mars 2020 mission. Its primary objective is to explore the surface of Mars, conduct geological assessments, and search for signs of ancient microbial life. Launched on July 30, 2020, and landing on Mars on February 18, 2021, the rover is equipped with advanced scientific instruments to analyze rock and soil samples, collect data on Mars’ climate and geology, and assess past habitability. Moreover, it serves as a testbed for technology that could support future human exploration of the planet. The Perseverance Rover also carries the Ingenuity helicopter, which successfully conducted the first powered flight on another planet.
