Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun in our solar system and is known for its prominent ring system, which is composed of ice particles, rocky debris, and dust. It is classified as a gas giant, meaning it is primarily made up of hydrogen and helium, and does not have a well-defined solid surface. Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system, after Jupiter, and has a diameter of about 86,881 miles (139,822 kilometers).

The planet has numerous moons, with Titan being the largest, which has a dense atmosphere and is of particular interest for studies regarding prebiotic conditions and the potential for life. Saturn’s atmosphere features bands of clouds, storms, and winds. It also exhibits a distinct yellowish hue due to ammonia crystals in its upper atmosphere. The planet has a relatively low density, less than that of water, indicating its gaseous composition. Saturn has been explored by space missions, most notably by the Cassini-Huygens mission, which provided extensive data about the planet, its rings, and its moons.
