No more matte displays?

Apple just released a new line of Macs, and everything looks really nice and shiny… a bit TOO shiny actually! They’ve removed the option to have a matte display on the laptops, rendering them completely useless to graphic designers and other DTP’s!

Macs are used all over the world by professional graphic designers and artist, who rely on a natural representation of colors on the screen. What are we supposed to do now Apple? Jesus Christ!

When I followed “The Spotlight Turns To Notebooks” via the Engadget blog, and found out about this, I was like: “What the fuck?!“. This has got to be one of the biggest mistakes Apple has ever made – and they will know. Just you wait and see.

it was very disapointing news. from what i have heard, they evidently got rid of firewire as well, so that fucks all the people who shoot hd video.

apple has begun to go too far in sacrificing function for figure, and it will cost them in the end

i bought mine yesterday, the new mac book pro 15 inch which does have a firewire port :) and yes the screen is really shiny its more like a imac screen now. Anyway i can’t wait to start working on my new macbook already sold the older 13,3 inch for € 800,-

mike –> I’m with you on that one: “function for figure”. It’s obvious why they would want a glossy display, but is it practical? No way!

Melvin –> Congrats :) As it is right now, I’m not even considering buying one of the new ones – because of the “no matte” issue. But when the people at Apple come to their senses, I’ll be the first to get a new MacBook Pro w. matte display (if I had the cash).
