Barq just finished an animation for the Global Innovation Tournament. This year’s challenge was: Make saving money fun. The animation was done in roughly 3 days using After Effects (animation), Photoshop (preparing the images) and Garage Band (sound effects, music and speak). I set up a primitive “sound studio” (if you can call it that) at home, by placing my MacBook Pro underneath a chair and then covering it all with a thick bed sheet. Then, I covered the built in mic on the Mac with some cloth to avoid blowing air into it when speaking. A storyboard was made prior to launching any applications. In general it’s always a really good idea to sketch out a storyboard before heading into the After Effects jungle (or any other compositing software).
