The Godfather

I just watched The Godfather for the first time in my life… Yes I know it’s a movie that you MUST see, which is why you might be wondering why I waited so long before watching it. I have no answer to that, all I can say is this: I’ve seen it, and now understand why this movie has become a classic! No more. No less.

I must say this movie has it all. Two weddings, a funeral, a christening and a shift in generations / business takeover. And what marvellous acting. Marlon Brando and Al Pachino are a joy to watch. They really drew me into the movie.
One scene made me think about an old picture from my family album. Actually I found it for the occation…

It’s a photo of my grandfather Miguel, holding me in his arms when I was just a little guy. I thought about this very photo when I watched Don Vito playing around in the garden with his grandchild in the movie.

  1. I’m really beginning to get some doubt as to wether I should be starting to get a little afraid now….

I refer back to a little poem you once posted on here and which i translated using freetranslation.com: it translated father for something resembeling a maffia name….

That name, this photo….it’s all too much of a coincidence ;)

You shouldn’t be afraid. Even though you’re not part of the family, you still have our respect. If you need anything, just give me a call and I’ll be sure to inform The Pope… :p
